Game Recaps

What a game. Washington and New York last met in week one, resulting in a Redskins win. Coming into this game, as usual, the Redskins held the underdog slot at 4-9. The Giants, leading the NFC East, held a record at 7-6.

With a win last night, and the Giants’  loss today, the Cowboys have taken over the NFC East at 8-6.

The big story on the day was the Redskins’ defense. The Redskins’ secondary was given three gifts from Manning in the form of interceptions. One of which at the hands of Josh Wilson, in the endzone, for the second week in a row. The Redskins Hit Squad, led by London Fletcher (10 tackles and a forced fumble), allowed only one touchdown in garbage time to the 7th ranked offense in the NFL. Ryan Kerrigan showed up to play, sacking Manning on a clutch  fourth down for a loss. Orakpo and Cofield also came out of the game with a sack.

This win places the Redskins at 5-9, on pace if they win their last two games to improve on last season with 7-9. I, for one, hope they do win out. I would love to see the Redskins end on a high note, being a huge boost to morale going into the offseason, and the April Draft.

Too often, today, have I seen fans complaining about the win. Complaining that we won’t get a good draft pick. Stop it. You play the game to win, and hopefully spoil someone’s playoff berth. The last 5 weeks of play have been a different team. They are on an incline, and a true fan would see that.
